1. Eligibility & Nationality

  • Only those with Asian nationality including Korea are eligible to apply, regardless of their current place of residence.

  • In accordance with the Enforcement Decree of the Act on the Departure, Arrival, and Legal Status of Overseas Koreans, this is limited to those who have acquired foreign nationality and who themselves, or their parents or grandparents, previously held Korean nationality.
    Overseas residents who currently hold Korean nationality are naturally eligible to participate.

  • Applicants must be at least 18 years old as of the start of the program.

2. Application & Submission

  • Please report the issue to our email (bafa@biff.kr), and we will take action or send the application form directly via email.

  • Yes, all documents must be written in English.

  • If your portfolio does not have English subtitles, please send the synopsis and the English script to our email (bafa@biff.kr).

  • Please specify this in the "Applicant’s Credit" section of the online application. Additional information may be requested if necessary.

  • No, only online applications through the official website during the designated period are accepted.

  • No, all submitted documents and materials will not be returned.

3. Selection Process & Results

  • Selection involves a review of application documents and portfolios for approximately one month, followed by one online interview in English.
    We evaluate passion for film, talent, and English proficiency sufficient for smooth communication.

  • No, these factors have absolutely no impact on the selection process.

  • Individual notifications will be sent via email in late June.

  • Individual evaluation results and feedback regarding selection or rejection will not be disclosed.

  • Yes, you can edit it until the deadline via the receipt confirmation email sent to you after completing the online application.
    If you did not receive a confirmation email, please contact the BAFA (bafa@biff.kr).

4. Participation & Benefits

  • There is no separate cost for participation.
    Once selected, participants will be provided with round-trip airfare within Asia (domestic travel for those based in Korea), as well as accommodation, meals, and professional production equipment during the short film production period.

  • No, participants must be available for the entire 20-day offline period from September 26 to October 15, 2026, including online sessions.
    Active participation in submitting the English short film screenplay and attending online sessions after selection is also mandatory.

  • Yes, if necessary, an official letter of cooperation regarding participation in the event can be issued.

  • Free time is very limited as the period is filled with various programs and official schedules.

  • Certificates of completion will be awarded to all participants who faithfully complete all programs.
