1. Eligibility & Nationality

• Are there any restrictions on nationality or residence?

  Only those with Asian nationality including Korea are eligible to apply, regardless of their current place of residence.

• What are the criteria for overseas Koreans?

  In accordance with the Enforcement Decree of the Act on the Departure, Arrival, and Legal Status of Overseas Koreans, this is limited to those who have acquired foreign nationality and who themselves, or their parents or grandparents, previously held Korean nationality.
  Overseas residents who currently hold Korean nationality are naturally eligible to participate.

• Is there an age limit?

  Applicants must be at least 18 years old as of the start of the program.

2. Application & Submission

• What should I do if the online application form is not working?

  Please report the issue to our email (bafa@biff.kr), and we will take action or send the application form directly via email.

• For Korean projects, should the application be written in English?

  Yes, all documents must be written in English.

• What if I don't have enough time to add English subtitles to my film?

  If your portfolio does not have English subtitles, please send the synopsis and the English script to our email (bafa@biff.kr).

• What if the name in the film credits differs from the name on my passport?

  Please specify this in the "Applicant’s Credit" section of the online application. Additional information may be requested if necessary.

• Is in-person submission allowed?

  No, only online applications through the official website during the designated period are accepted.

• Can I get my submitted documents or portfolio back?

  No, all submitted documents and materials will not be returned.

3. Selection Process & Results

• What are the selection process and criteria?

  Selection involves a review of application documents and portfolios for approximately one month, followed by one online interview in English.
  We evaluate passion for film, talent, and English proficiency sufficient for smooth communication.

• Do physical, religious, or cultural differences affect the selection?

  No, these factors have absolutely no impact on the selection process.

• When and how will the results be announced?

  Individual notifications will be sent via email in late June.

• Can I check the specific reasons for my selection or rejection?

  Individual evaluation results and feedback regarding selection or rejection will not be disclosed.

• Can I edit my application after submission?

  Yes, you can edit it until the deadline via the receipt confirmation email sent to you after completing the online application.
  If you did not receive a confirmation email, please contact the BAFA (bafa@biff.kr).

4. Participation & Benefits

• How much is the participation fee?

  There is no separate cost for participation.
  Once selected, participants will be provided with round-trip airfare within Asia (domestic travel for those based in Korea), as well as accommodation, meals, and professional production equipment during the short film production period.

• Can I skip part of the program period?

  No, participants must be available for the entire 20-day offline period from September 26 to October 15, 2026, including online sessions.
  Active participation in submitting the English short film screenplay and attending online sessions after selection is also mandatory.

• Can you send an official cooperation letter if I have to miss classes or work?

  Yes, if necessary, an official letter of cooperation regarding participation in the event can be issued.

• Is there free time during the program?

  Free time is very limited as the period is filled with various programs and official schedules.

• Will certificates be issued?

  Certificates of completion will be awarded to all participants who faithfully complete all programs.
